Baseball, baseball and more baseball. Games until 1:30 in the morning, games at 8 in the morning, stores filled with baseball memorabilia, stores with baseball t-shirts, and then even stores with baseball bats. Do you get the picture? What else would you expect in Cooperstown NY, home of the baseball hall of fame?
We just got back Cooperstown Dreams Park for a baseball tournament with my son’s team that had been planned for 2 years. What an experience.
“G”, my son, had been looking forward to a week of baseball games for months. He had been talking about, dreaming about it and it was finally here. I was looking forward to being with my family and watching my son and his team hopefully, have a few wins and in the process have a great time.
This town was magical. The foggy mornings. the crack of bats. the drizzly rain that came and went. Lush green fields (22 of them) manicured daily ready for boys to come out and play the good old-fashioned American pastime.
Yes, there was a lot of baseball.
But this trip far exceeded anything I had imagined. Not only were we with a nice group of people, but “G’s” teammates all became better friends and really gelled as a team as they stayed in barracks, ate all of the their meals together, won games together and lost games together.
This is a trip I will never forget and I know my son will remember forever. Ah, these wonderful life experiences. Cooperstown will be in my soul always.
What wonderful life experience have you had recently?
