Now that Spain has emerged victorious from the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it is time to start talking about American football again. The 2010 preseason is swiftly approaching and football fanatics around the country have already predicted Super Bowl XLIV Champs, the New Orleans Saints, to be successful again this year. But New Orleans shouldn’t count their touchdowns before they’re scored—Saints’ rivals from last year, the Indianapolis Colts, will return stronger than ever in 2010, as both Anthony Gonzales and Bob Sanders are now off the injured list and Peyton Manning will return as their ever-valuable quarterback.

Curious about the other favored football teams and players coming to your TV screen this fall? Well grab a seat in that Football Chair and Beanbag from Artistic Sensations, and read on.

As life would be pretty boring for football fans if the same two cities played in the Super Bowl every year, there are plenty of other teams with spectacular players for the Saints and Colts to contend with in 2010. Take for example the Dallas Cowboys, who will have home field advantage if they make it to the championships this year, as the Super Bowl is set to occur at the new Jerry Jone’s Cowboys Stadium in Texas. But the Cowboys have a lot of work to do to get there and with the loss of Flozell Adams, football experts question Dallas’ offensive line. Be that as it may, the Cowboys still look good to win their division again (a division that some call the toughest in football), especially since Tony Romo remains quarterback. If the Cowboys make it to the playoffs however they should expect some serious competition from the 2009 Champs, the Saints (if they can secure the South Division title from Atlanta. The Falcons are favored by many analysts because of the always impressive Matt Ryan), as well as from the San Francisco 49ers, who no longer need worry about Arizona since Kurt Warner retired.

And then there’s the AFC. The Cincinnati Bengals, who improved this year after picking up Terrell Owens to compliment Chad Ochocinco at wide reciever, should help Carson Palmer to have a successful passing season. Due to this, the Bengals look poised to take the AFC North Championships again this year. But after that they’re a wildcard—especially if the Colts win the South Division Championships again. Not to be forgotten in the AFC however are the Patriots, who should do well if Tom Brady and Wes Welker are fully recovered, the Jets, who secured the valuable Santonio Holmes and Jason Taylor this year, and the Dolphins, who added Brandon Marshall to offense and Karlos Dansby to defense for a more dynamic roster this time around.

Obviously however, it is a little early to predict outcomes for the 2010 NFL season considering the preseason hasn’t even begun! But it’s never too early to prepare those vocal cords for a whole season of yelling for (and sometimes yelling at), your favorite football teams.
